"There is only one answer: that the government of Georgia will not allow the state of Georgia to be involved in a military confrontation. Therefore, of course, we will not find military-type assistance to one of the parties to the military conflict, especially since, as far as I know, we are talking about the transfer of such weapons, which we have acquired, but this is only a detail. Perhaps the main thing is the main general line and the position of the government of a country called Georgia, that we do not want to be in a war," Tsulukiani said.

According to Tsulukiani, Georgia has gone through many wars.

"We remember very well what kind of disaster the war is. So, we simply cannot allow it to happen; it is our responsibility for the future of our country. So, as we have walked on this knife's edge so far, I hope we can successfully pass it in the future," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

"I hope that the war in Ukraine will end soon, and it will end with the victory of the Ukrainian state and people," she added.

Background:

  • In an article on the EuroPravda website, Andrii Kasianov said that Kyiv has asked to hand over the Buk missile systems, which were transferred by Ukraine to Georgia during the 2008 war. Ukraine's request also included the Javelin anti-tank systems transferred to Georgia by the United States. However, according to Kasianov, the Georgian government refused to provide assistance.

  • Kasianov has said that despite the refusal, Ukraine opposes the use of this issue in internal political disputes and rejects any accusations of attempts to draw Georgia into a war with the Russian Federation.

  • The ruling party in Georgia, Georgian Dream, has also stated that the anti-aircraft missile systems were not provided for free.
