Gators rise in ESPN’s latest FPI update despite losing to Florida State

ESPN has released its final FPI rankings of the regular season, with the Florida Gators rising despite losing 45-38 to their in-state rival Florida State.

The FPI rankings were developed by ESPN in 2013 to measure each team’s overall strength and predict results throughout the season. As the schedule progresses, the data used to determine a team’s FPI ranking will come from the games played while also predicting the outcomes for each future matchup.

The Gators had an up-and-down season. There were stretches where the offense was firing on all cylinders, with their rushing attack among one of the best in the nation. Their loss to Florida State gave them a 6-6 record to end the season. They will not wait to find out in which bowl game they will play. The announcement is expected to come on Sunday after the playoff and New Year’s Six teams are announced.

Here are the final regular season FPI updates for the Florida Gators.
