Game day updates: Toledo 21, Akron 7 -- 3rd quarter
Nov. 27—Two third-down touchdowns have given Toledo a 21-7 halftime lead over Akron.
The Rockets scored on a 51-yard touchdown pass in the flat to Bryant Koback, who broke several tackles and changed directions en route to the end zone. The play came on third-and-36 after Dequan Finn was sacked for a loss of 21 yards.
Finn continued the third-down magic just before halftime, firing a dart to Devin Maddox on third-and-seven from the Akron 23-yard line.
The Zips got their TD on the second play of the second quarter, as quarterback Kato Nelson connected with running back Jonzell Norrils, a Toledo native, on a three-yard pass.
First quarter
A 10-day layoff hasn't slowed Toledo.
The Rockets came out Saturday, forced a three-and-out, and then went 76 yards in 11 plays, including a fourth-and-six conversion, for a 7-0 lead over Akron in the regular-season finale.
UT leads 7-0 after the first quarter.
