Ga. man and 3-year-old girl die in fiery I-20 crash on Christmas Day

A Georgia man and a 3-year-old girl died in a fiery crash on I-20 on Christmas Day.

According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP), at 1:28 p.m., troopers responded to a crash involving a Dodge Charger and a tractor trailer on I-20 eastbound near mile marker 163.

GSP said a tractor trailer experience mechanical failure and was stopped in the emergency lane on the south side of the roadway.

For unknown reasons, the Charger, driven by Ryant Torenzo Vitron Furtick, 24, of Jonesboro, entered the emergency lane and crashed into the rear of the truck.

The Charger became completely engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered the car was occupied by Furtick and Neuriah Shannon, 3, of Columbia, South Carolina.

The child was Furtick’s goddaughter, according to her mother, who posted about the accident on social media.
