Future Black History Makers: Meet Serenity Sanders, a fifth-grader at Bill Hefner Elementary
Serenity Sanders, 11, is in fifth grade at Bill Hefner Elementary School.
She was nominated as a Future Black History Maker because "She excels in school, sports, friendship, and with family. Serenity is a bubbly girl who is always willing to help others and succeeds in whatever challenge is set before her. Her maturity level and ability to speak in front of others is rare in a child her age. She has a natural gift and is fortunate to have the support around her to see that her gift is nurtured," her nominator writes.

What makes your child a Future Black History Maker? Serenity is smart and isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. If she sees someone hurting or mistreated, she has always stepped up to defend them. When she sees a problem, she brainstorms and tries to find a solution.
Why are you proud of your child? Serenity has always been driven and sets high goals for herself. She is smart, kind, and spreads joy wherever she goes. She always wants to help where she can and is a friend to everyone she meets. She is an amazing role model!
