Fundraisers help the Seahawks continue to play ball

Feb. 24—LAUREL HILL — The Sandhill Seahawk AAU football teams are hoping residents will help the program succeed.

"We are holding a yard sale on March 6," said Jeanette Herlocker, a board member for the Seahawks. "We plan to be set up and ready to start selling items at 7:30 a.m."

There is not currently an end time for the yard sale at this time. The teams are currently taking donations for the yard sale but already have a good start on their inventory.

"We will have many various items that have been donated for our sale," said Herlocker. "Items like jeans, infant and toddler clothes, coats and jackets, furniture, kitchen appliances, kids toys, athletic apparel, knick-knacks, artwork, picture frames, costume jewelry and general appliances."

The sale will be handled by the Seahawk Board of Directors and parents who are volunteering their time.

"The sales from the yard sale will help us purchase equipment, upkeep of the Seahawk's Nest (our new home field in Laurel Hill), as well as general funding."

The yard sale will be held at Norris Auto Sales on Hwy. 74 in Laurel Hill.

Another opportunity to help

The Seahawks will also be hosting an online raffle.

"We will be selling tickets for the online raffle at the yard sale as well," said Herlocker. "Tickets go on sale March 4."

The spring raffle prize will include "smell good and feel good baskets" with a touch of local artwork in each basket.

The Sandhill Seahawks is an AAU tackle football organization in Scotland County and has open registration for five teams, 14U, 12U, 10U, 8U and 6U.

"We could particularly use a few more 12U and 8U players," said Herlocker.
