Freshman Caitlyn Holmes leads Ellet to City Series win over Buchtel in girls basketball

Ellet 63, Buchtel 24

Freshman Caitlyn Holmes scored a game-high 23 points to lead the host Orangemen to a City Series win Monday. Senior Trinity Brown added 14 points and junior Mya Knight scored 10 for Ellet (4-1, 2-0).

Cloverleaf 58, Ravenna 25

Laurell Brown scored 23 points and Tori Smith recorded a double-double to lead the Colts to a Metro Athletic Conference win at Ravenna (1-3, 0-3). Brown made two 3-pointers and was 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, and Smith finished with 14 points and 20 rebounds for Cloverleaf(6-1, 3-0). Browns and Smith also combined for 14 steals.

Manchester 49, Canton Central Catholic 40

Mackenzie Moss scored 17 points and Manchester pulled out a nonleague win. Abby White added a career-high 13 points for the Panthers.

Rootstown 56, Rittman 23

Nadia Lough scored 15 points, Katie Plecko added 10 and 10 players in all scored for the Rovers (4-0) in a nonleague victory.

BOYS BOWLING

Wadsworth 2,365, Hudson 2,102

The Grizzlies overcame a 500 series by Hudson's Brock Miller to post a Suburban League win at North Woods Lanes. Mason White led Wadsworth (2-0) with a 463 series and helped the visitors take the Baker games by 129 pins. Dan Bugajski added a 396 series for the Grizzlies.
