Freeway reopens after fatal crash reported Thursday night on I-264 by Louisville's airport

One person was killed Thursday night in a three-car crash near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, police said in a release.

The crash was reported at about 10:15 p.m., according to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Alicia Smiley, on Interstate 264 West by the airport. One person had been injured in a three-car collision, she said – they were taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where they were pronounced dead a short time later.

The roads near the crash had been closed while the investigation was taking place, but MetroSafe reported they had reopened by Friday morning.

Smiley said LMPD's traffic unit did not find any other injuries and the identity of the person who was killed has not been released.
