Frederick police investigating Tuesday double fatal crash

Sep. 22—Frederick police say two people died in a fatal vehicle crash that involved a motorcycle and truck Tuesday evening.

According to a Frederick Police Department news release, the crash was reported around 7:30 p.m. near the Bella Rosa Golf Course on Colorado Boulevard.

Frederick police said a 24-year-old woman was driving northbound on Colorado Boulevard in a 1999 Chevy Silverado pickup and struck a northbound 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

A 54-year-old man was driving the motorcycle and a 24-year-old woman was a passenger. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, who had been driving the motorcycle, was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. The woman who was driving the pickup remained hospitalized as of Wednesday morning.

Colorado Boulevard between Godding Hollow Boulevard and Pine Cone Avenue was closed following the crash. The road reopened at approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Frederick police said in an earlier release Tuesday night that the crash was being investigated as a possible alcohol-related incident. Police noted Wednesday that the cause remains under investigation.

The Firestone Police Department and Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District were also on scene to assist police. The release said that the Weld County Coroner's Office will identify the man and woman who died and notify the next of kin.
