The 2022 Mid-Penn Track and Field Championships took place on May 14 at Chambersburg High School, and many athletes represented their county well.

In total, Franklin County secured five first place finishes, with one inches away from making history.

Shippensburg's Dakota Arana took home the top spot in the high jump with relative ease with a 6-9, seven inches higher than 2nd place. But he was looking for more than just the win.

He was looking for 6-11, which would have set a new Mid-Penn Championship record. But his three attempts came up just short.

"I felt like I had it on my last two attempts," Arana said. "It didn't go that way but it's fine."

He has already hit 7-0 on the season, and is the defending state champion, so he'll look to improve on this performance at districts this weekend.

Arana was far from the only Greyhound to come out on top at the Mid-Penns.

Jillian Sydnor took home two titles, in both the 200m and 400m dash. And Spencer Edey took home the triple jump title.
