Fox News hosts slam LeBron James following China comments

During Tuesday evening’s broadcasts of Tucker Carlson Tonight and The Ingraham Angle, the Fox News hosts slammed LeBron James. James recently spoke out about the support NBA owner Daryl Morey offered to demonstrators in Hong Kong. Morey tweeted and then deleted an image which read, “Fight for freedom, stand for Hong Kong.” At the time of the tweet, James was in China along with members of the Brooklyn Nets and Los Lakers NBA basketball teams. In response to Morey’s comments, two exhibition games were not broadcast and many Chinese companies pulled their sponsorship. When James arrived back in the U.S., he told reporters, “I believe [Morey] wasn't educated on the situation at hand and he spoke -- so many people could have been harmed not only financially but physically, emotionally, spiritually.“ Tucker Carlson took exception to James statements. “If there's anyone whose life is a tribute to America, to its decency, to its endless opportunity, it is Lebron James,” said Carlson, “In return he showers America with contempt.” Carlson went on to bash James and like-minded celebrities. “The first thing they care about is popularity and that's why they are delighted to weigh in politically when it's fashionable in West Los Angeles,” said Carlson, “Bashing the administration or protesting the national anthem or re-tweeting in support transgender rights or whatever.” Laura Ingraham claims that LeBron is supporting the Chinese government because he has so many business relationships with them. “He signed a $1 billion lifetime Nike endorsement, which heavily depends on selling gear in Chinese markets,” said Ingraham. In the end both hosts claimed James and the NBA are hypocrites who abandoned the American ideals they claim to champion. “The masks are off,” said Ingraham, “We know what everyone really thinks so don't tell us you are this incredible social justice warrior when an American GM can send an innocuous tweet without getting knocked back on his heels by the NBA.”
