Fourth Judicial District Court upholds former Monroe Police Chief's termination

The Fourth Judicial District Court ruled Tuesday to uphold the termination of former Monroe Police Chief Reggie Brown.

Brown was fired on Nov. 23, 2020, by current Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan for allegedly failing to forward the Timothy Williams excessive force case to the Louisiana State Police in a timely manner. Zordan alleged Brown purposely avoided handling the issue until after the mayoral election in July 2020.

During the election, Brown served as the department's interim police chief under then-Mayor Jamie Mayo, who was seeking reelection on July 11, 2020.

In March, the Monroe Fire and Police Civil Service Board voted to modify Brown's termination to a 90-day suspension without pay.
