Georgia's 2022 signing class got deeper Monday night with a familiar face signing on.

Marcus Washington Jr., who committed to Georgia last May, announced Monday night that he'll be reclassifying from the 2023 class to the 2022 class and enrolling in Athens this summer.

A Grovetown native, Washington Jr., is a four-star and the No. 6 cornerback in the 2023 recruiting class. He chose UGA over offers from Arkansas, FSU and Oregon, among others.

"I have decided to forego my senior year of high school football, reclassify to the class of 2022 and begin my playing career as a Georgia Bulldog," Washington Jr. said in his announcement tweet. "I am excited for the opportunity to get on campus early and start working with Coach (Kirby) Smart, Coach Fran (Brown), Coach (Glenn) Schumann, Coach (Will) Muschamp and the rest of the UGA coaching staff."

The son of former Bulldog Marcus Washington, Washington Jr. had 42 tackles, an interception, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles in 2020 for Grovetown. He also averaged 29 yards on kickoff returns and scored two touchdowns on special teams.

"Although this is the end of my high school journey, I am excited about the new chapter of my life that I am going to start in Athens the will lead me on a continued journey to greatness," Wahington Jr. said.

Prior to Washington's reclassification, Georgia had the No. 3 signing class in 2022, behind Texas A&M and Alabama. With the addition of the four-star cornerback, UGA now has 30 signees in their 2022 class. Washington becomes the fourth cornerback to sign in the 2022 class.

"Incredibly physical, is just as capable of moving up in the box to help against the run," said Will Cheney of the Augusta Chronicle, who has covered Washington for several years. "He also has the speed to remain a true cover corner."

With Washington reclassifying, UGA is now down to eight commits in the 2023 recruiting class.
