Former Major League Soccer player Colin Clark died at 35 on Monday of a heart attack, the Coloradoan reported on Tuesday.

Clark received one call-up to the United States men’s national team for a game against Haiti in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Fort Collins, Colo., native played collegiately at SMU before working his way up the second division with Boulder Rapids Reserve. His MLS debut came with the Colorado Rapids in 2006.

Clark went on to play parts of nine seasons in MLS, largely with the Colorado Rapids, and scored 15 goals as a speedy midfielder. He was traded to Houston Dynamo in 2010, where he spent three seasons, before finishing his career with LA Galaxy in 2013.

Clark was briefly suspended in the 2012 season, when he was caught on national television yelling an anti-gay slur at a ball boy after receiving a ball for a throw-in.
