Former USMNT player Colin Clark dies at 35 of heart attack
Former Major League Soccer player Colin Clark died at 35 on Monday of a heart attack, the Coloradoan reported on Tuesday.
Clark received one call-up to the United States men’s national team for a game against Haiti in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Fort Collins, Colo., native played collegiately at SMU before working his way up the second division with Boulder Rapids Reserve. His MLS debut came with the Colorado Rapids in 2006.
Clark went on to play parts of nine seasons in MLS, largely with the Colorado Rapids, and scored 15 goals as a speedy midfielder. He was traded to Houston Dynamo in 2010, where he spent three seasons, before finishing his career with LA Galaxy in 2013.
Clark was briefly suspended in the 2012 season, when he was caught on national television yelling an anti-gay slur at a ball boy after receiving a ball for a throw-in.
Clark’s former MLS teams and teammates reach out in condolence
All three of Clark’s former MLS teams sent out heartfelt tweets on Tuesday. Clark’s teammates were quick to keep his son, Tyce, in their minds as well.

Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers especially his son Tyce. Colin loved his son more than life itself. And it kills me knowing he will not see his son grow up. Life is not fair and I cannot wrap my head around this tragedy.

Our entire club is saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Colin Clark. He was a huge part of our club from 2010 to 2012, and an even better person off the pitch.

I feel sick hearing the news about Colin Clark today. I was lucky enough to be his teammate for 2 years in Houston. He was a great guy and friend taken away much too early. Rest In Peace my friend
