Former NBA Star Amar'e Stoudemire Pulled Over By Cops Days After Divorce Dismissed

Ex-NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was pulled over and cited by Florida law enforcement only days after his divorce was dismissed. According to court records obtained by The Blast, Stoudemire was pulled over while driving in Broward County near his house on February 18 at 10:20 am.

The former NBA star was caught going 90 mph in a 70 mph by a laser. The citation notes Stoudemire was driving alone in his 2018 black Tesla.

The officer made a note on the citation that Stoudemire’s license “had the wrong gender listed”, which he pointed out to the NBA star.

The notes said Stoudemire “thought he was truly in express lanes, stated his dash showed speed limit to be 65”. The officer made sure to write Stoudemire had a “very good attitude.”

Stoudemire will only have to pay a $280 fine and the case will be closed.

The ticket came only days after Stoudemire’s divorce was dismissed by a Florida judge on July 16.

Stoudemire originally filed for divorce from Alexis Welch, his wife of a little more than six years, back in October 2018. He never served her with the legal papers and had asked for an extension in February. The ex-NBA star never followed through which caused the judge to dismiss the entire case this month.

As The Blast first reported, Stoudemire had filed for divorce a little more than a year after the revelation he fathered a love child came to light.

The NBA star dated Alexis since the early 2000s and the two finally made it official with a wedding in 2012. They share four kids together: Ar’e. Amar’e Jr., Assata and their youngest son, Alijah, was born in 2013.
