Former Indiana assistant Tom Ostrom to join Drake men's basketball coaching staff
Drake men’s basketball on Friday announced the addition of assistant coach Tom Ostrom to the coaching staff.
Ostrom was most recently co-associate head coach at Indiana University during the 2020-21 season. He took the 2021-22 season off from coaching. The 2020-21 season was his fourth with the Hoosiers men’s basketball program. Ostrom followed then-head coach Archie Miller to Indiana from Dayton, where the pair spent six years coaching together.
His other Division I coaching experience includes stops as an assistant coach at Arkansas (2007-11), South Alabama (2004-07) and Florida (2002-04).
On the recruiting side of the game, Ostrom was part of a staff at Indiana that produced the No. 7 recruiting class nationwide in 2018 and the No. 13 group in 2020.
Ostrom is a 1997 graduate of the University of Minnesota and worked in the men’s basketball program during his time as an undergraduate.

Ostrom is the second assistant coach to join Darian DeVries’ staff for the 2022-23 season. Corey Edwards joined the Bulldogs earlier this offseason after one year as a graduate assistant at Creighton University.
Both will fill coaching vacancies left by the departures of Matt Gatens to Iowa and Achoki Moikobu to North Texas.
