Former hospital HR director takes similar position in Petersburg

PETERSBURG — The City of Petersburg announced the selection of LaKishah White as its new Director of Human Resources. She comes to the city with over 23 years of experience in her field.

White comes to Petersburg from a 20-year tenure with Bon Secours Mercy Health System in Richmond. She worked as the HR System Director serving approximately 9,500 employees. She has also worked with Chesterfield County Department of Social Services and Brenco, Inc. in Petersburg.

"Throughout the competitive recruitment process for the HR position, Mrs. white demonstrated solid leadership, professionalism and genuine dedication to staff recruitment, retention and team building," said Interim City Manager Kenneth Miller in a press release. "I believe she will continue to serve with these same characteristics to help build and sustain a high performing Petersburg team that supports the City Council's vision for providing a superior level of service to its community."

White earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Old Dominion University and a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University. In certifications, she holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).

“I look forward to contributing to the growth in Petersburg and working with the City team on talent acquisition, employee engagement and relations, compensation, benefits, and strategic planning,” White said. “I graduated from Petersburg High, and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve my hometown.”

White's will begin work on May 23, 2022. Her salary is $135,000 per year.
