Former Celtics two way wing Matt Ryan signs with the Los Angeles Lakers
Former Boston Celtics two way player Matt Ryan has found himself a home with the Los Angeles Lakers according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. There had been some optimism the sharpshooting wing might compete in the Celtics’ 2022 training camp for a regular roster spot after spending the latter part of the 2021-22 season with the team in a two way slot.
Ryan, who played collegiately for Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Chattanooga, was signed by the Celtics late last season after going unselected in the 202o NBA draft. The White Plains native averaged 12.1 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist per game with the Maine Celtics while shooting 38% from beyond the arc.
However, things did not come so easily for Ryan at the next level, with the New Yorker only getting one game with the parent club last season that saw him hit just one of his five 3-point attempts to go with a steal.

The former Celtics wing will likely get more of an opportunity with the wing and shooting-starved Lakers, who need to find some additional help for players able to play as a forward who can space the floor.
