Rookie Alec Pierce led the Colts on Thursday night in Denver with eight catches for 81 yards.

Alec Pierce, a rookie wide receiver who starred for the University of Cincinnati Bearcats, had a team-high eight catches and 81 yards in the Indianapolis Colts' 12-9 overtime win Thursday night against the Broncos in Denver.

"You better keep an eye on (No.) 14 in white," Amazon Prime Video analyst Kirk Herbstreit said during the fourth quarter of Pierce. "He's had one of those nights."

Pierce entered the game with seven catches through the Colts' first four games of the NFL season.

"It's huge for him. He continues to build confidence every week," Colts quarterback Matt Ryan said after the game during Amazon's "TNF Nightcap." "I think he could be a really good player in this league for a long time. … He's special. He's played great for us. I've got a lot of confidence in him."

The Broncos waited until the fourth quarter to get former UC running back Mike Boone more involved in their running game.

When they did, Boone impressed. He finished with 38 rushing yards on seven carries, and added 47 receiving yards on three catches.

"Where has this been?" Herbstreit said after a Boone carry in the fourth quarter. "They're getting a push now. … This is the best push this offensive line has provided the entire night."

Many expected Boone to get more playing time than he's seen so far in parts of two seasons with Denver after Broncos RB Javonte Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Boone entered Thursday's game with just three carries for 20 yards this season, and one reception for nine yards.
