A foot of snow? More? Here's what Seacoast can expect from nor'easter headed our way

A powerful coastal winter nor'easter storm is developing off the Carolina coast and expected to make a big impact on Seacoast New Hampshire and York County in southern Maine as well as across New England, according to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine.

A forecaster with NWS says there is the potential for widespread accumulating snowfall, which can add up to more than a foot of light powdery snow on Saturday in the local area, including communities in and around Portsmouth, Dover, Rochester, Hampton and Exeter in New Hampshire and Kittery, Eliot, York, South Berwick, Kennebunk and Wells in Maine.

"No matter which way the storm tracks, we are forecasting cold temperatures, plowable snow, and high winds that will cause blowing and drifting snow," meteorologist John Cannon said Thursday morning.

The Seacoast in New Hampshire and southern Maine could see close to a foot of snow, or more, in a nor'easter headed to the New England region.

The Seacoast will see the biggest impacts of the storm. The storm's high winds could knock out power, affect travel conditions, and astronomically high tides can lead to to large waves causing coastal erosion, according to forecasters.

Heading into next week, the temperatures begin to warm up on Monday and Tuesday with in the 30s and low 40s by Wednesday.
