Germantown 5-star wing Madison Booker commits to Texas basketball

Madison Booker, Mississippi's No. 1 women's basketball recruit, committed to Texas, Wednesday at Germantown High School.

The five-star wing picked Texas over Duke and Tennessee. Booker also included Florida State, Louisville, Oregon, South Carolina and UConn in her top nine schools last September.

The 6-foot-1 Booker is the No. 15 recruit nationally according to espnW's 2023 HoopGurlz rankings. She averaged 16.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals in 28 games last season. Booker helped lead Germantown to a 24-7 record and advanced to the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals.

The 2021 Dandy Dozen selection averaged 18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.6 steals as a sophomore and has been a Clarion Ledger girls basketball first team selection in back-to-back years.

Booker was a member of the Team USA that won gold in the 2021 FIBA U16 Americas Championship in August 2021. Booker started all six games and averaged 6.2 points and 6.7 rebounds on 48% shooting during the tournament.

She returned to Team USA this summer and won the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup with a 84-62 victory over Spain on July 17. Booker had eight points and two rebounds in the championship victory.
