Aug. 11—The Aiken County Board of Education has five seats up for election in November. For those who are interested in running, the deadline to file is Monday, Aug. 15, at noon. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The seats up for election in November are: District 2 held by Jason Crane, District 3 held by Brian Silas, District 5 held by Barry Moulton, District 6 held by Dwight Smith and District 7 held by Patrice Rhinehart-Jackson.

Crane announced in May that he would not be running for re-election due to wanting to focus on his family.

The Board of Education is made up of nine elected representatives. Each board member represents the residents living in their specific district in the county, along with other county stakeholders.

To find your representative, residents can visit the Aiken County School District website, click on About Us, click on School Board and view the representative map.

If a person is registered to vote, they can find their representative through the State Election Commission's representative identification portal. They will have to click on Representative Identification Portal, type in their county, first and last name, and date of birth and last four digits of their Social Security number. The school district representative will be listed by the representative district number.
