Five Mustangs compete at DCG Mustang Invitational

Dec. 7—GRIMES — PCM's wrestling team brought five grapplers to the DCG Mustang Invitational on Saturday.

Remington Fry was the top finisher on the day and the Mustangs were 13th in the 14-team field.

Only two schools — Nevada and Des Moines East — brought fewer wrestlers than PCM.

Creston/Orient Macksburg won the tournament with 187.5 points and the rest of the top five included host DCG (182), Ankeny Centennial (174), Webster City (153.5) and Urbandale (153).

PCM scored 25 points. Conference foes West Marshall (123) and Nevada (35) also were in the field and placed sixth and 11th, respectively.

Fry was fourth at 120 pounds. He was 1-2 on the day, claiming a 6-4 win by decision.

The team's next best finisher was Wyatt Wheeler, who placed sixth at 195. He won twice and lost twice, winning 11-2 and 8-2.

Hewitt Brinegar was eighth at 138. His lone win came by fall.

Kaden Clark competed at 285 and won his first match by fall. He was injured in his second match and did not return to the tournament after that.

Nate Richards competed at 170 and was 0-2 on the day.
