Fishermen discover body in Auburndale's Lake Stella

AUBURNDALE — The body of a 40-year-old Auburndale man was discovered by two men fishing at Lake Stella, Monday.

Auburndale Police officials said officers went out to the lake at 3:36 p.m. and found the body of Jimmy Leland Davis near the south shoreline of Lake Stella.

In a release, APD reported two men were fishing from the grass banks of the lake when one of their fishing lines snagged something heavy and reeled it in. After the discovery was made, agency officials said one of the men called his father, who came out to the lake and called 911.

The release went on to state Davis' body appeared to have been in the water for 24 to 48 hours and that there were no obvious signs of trauma, though results from an autopsy by the medical examiner are pending.
