First Dates guest Abi shocked viewers in tonight's episode (September 20) by demonstrating how to perform a circumcision using a banana.

The urologist from Birmingham explained in her confessional before the date that men are often "intimidated" by her job. She said she thinks they're "afraid I might cut it off in the middle of the night".

"Sometimes I introduce myself as a dick doctor," she joked.

In the pre-date interview, she demonstrated her unique skill set using a banana and a small knife to explain how circumcisions are performed.

Later, she also did a brief demonstration of her favourite hobby: axe-throwing. Abi admitted that she goes axe-throwing every week and her friends call her "Doctor Hatchet".

However, she said that her job does get in the way of her love life. "I just think of penises as my patients, I don't think of penises outside of work," she explained.

She was paired up for her date with 34-year-old accountant Adam, who was also from Birmingham.

During the date, he asked about her job and she told him she was a surgeon. When he asked about specialisms, she replied: "I do kidneys, bladders... penises."

But thankfully, it didn't scare Adam off, and he said she just seemed "obviously very bright".

The pair shared a poignant moment when they both revealed the effects their difficult careers have had on their love lives.

"My career has always been my priority," Abi told her date. She explained that after seven years at medical school, then years working on her specialism, she had started to want more from her life.

"I've worked really hard, but now I have no one else to come home to," she said. "It's like a black hole in my chest sometimes"

Adam agreed, telling her that he simply goes to work and then heads home to have dinner alone everyday. "I properly don't have anyone to talk to," he revealed.

While at the end of the date they both agreed they would like to see each other again, the episode revealed that unfortunately it didn't work out between them.

But it also revealed that Abi is still working on her axe-throwing, so Doctor Hatchet lives on.

First Dates airs on Channel 4.
