Fire destroys Euclid home

Oct. 7—A fire destroyed a Euclid home Oct. 7 at 24371 Alberton Road, according to a news release posted on the Euclid Fire Department Facebook page.

The post stated at 8:15 a.m., the Euclid Fire Department was dispatched to the home for reports of smoke coming from the house.

The first fire engine arrived at 8:21 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from front and sides of the structure. Department personnel stretched a hose to the second floor for fire control and encountered heavy fire conditions behind several walls in the upstairs of the house.

Fire had filled those spaces.

Additional help was requested from neighboring fire departments including Willowick, Wickliffe, Richmond Heights and South Euclid. In all, 32 firefighters were at the scene.

The release stated all interior personnel were ordered out of the structure due to the intensity of the fire and the weakened roof. Water was applied from the outside using three hoses and one elevated water pipe from South Euclid's ladder truck.

According to the release, the American Red Cross of Northern Ohio was contacted for two occupants who were not at home at the time the fire was reported. One Euclid firefighter was transported as a precaution for overexertion and dehydration. He was treated and released from Cleveland Clinic-Euclid Hospital.

The fire remains under investigation and the house is considered a total loss, according to the release.
