Your Favorite Nail Polish Brand Just Launched a Plant-Based Line

OPI is always a foolproof option when you find yourself debating manicure shades at your favorite salon's nail polish wall.
The formula is iconic for a reason: it offers creamy, opaque coverage, a high-shine finish, and long wear, staying chip-free for days. Essentially, you know you're getting your money's worth with any of the brand's shades.
Now, OPI is adding even more polish options into the mix with its Nature Strong Natural Origin Lacquer range, a collection of 30 vegan, non-GMO, plant- and mineral-based nail polishes and a top coat priced at $12 each. According to the brand, the polishes are up to 75% natural in origin, with ingredients like sugar cane, wheat, potatoes, and corn, while the top coat is up to 65% natural in origin. Nature Strong is certified by The Vegan Society and the bottle and cap are made from 20% post-consumer recycled materials.

"We wanted to answer the call for the more environmentally conscious consumers looking for more sustainable options when it comes to nail care," says OPI co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. Aside from fielding customer feedback and trend reports, simply creating a product that would provide consumers with an option to not choose between natural and high-performance nail care was something OPI had been planning for a long time — since 2018 in fact.
Like the OG OPI nail polish, Nature Strong offers the same pigmented color and glossy finish that the brand's fans know and love. And according to Sarah Fairneny, OPI vice president of research and development, this range offers a lifespan of up to seven days before there's any fading.

When choosing the 30 nature-, floral-, and vegetable-inspired shades that are exclusive to the collection, Weiss-Fischmann says the brand ensured options for every type of manicure, from bold to neutral, and crème and shimmery finishes.
"At OPI, we always want to offer choices to our clients and professionals, and given that there's no 'one size fits all' when it comes to nails, we are proud to continue that path," she adds. "This is a completely new franchise with a new formula, so we wanted to make sure we released a shade palette that everyone could enjoy!"
