Take it from us: Kicking that pricey coffee shop habit takes more than strong-willed commitment. For us, it also required investment in a few key products—one of which was a great cold brew coffee maker. Contrary to popular belief, those seeking an at-home java alternative that will help them do the same don’t need to spend a small fortune to get top quality. As it turns out, the least expensive model we've tested—the Takeya cold brew coffee maker—also turned out to be the best cold brew coffee maker we've ever tried—and it's currently on sale for 20% off.

Once $19.99 and marked down to $15.99 for the 1-quart model, this BPA-free canister beat out even newer models in our tests, as the taste of the coffee it produced consistently reigned supreme—it was neither too acidic nor too watered down. Despite the fact that glass is oftentimes preferred to plastic, which can create "off" odors or flavors on occasion, we found neither here, making this gadget suitable for cold or hot brews alike. In fact, it remained equally delicious after a whole week of sitting in the fridge!

Performance wise, the Takeya was practical and functional, taking the guesswork out of the brewing process—simply put your grounds in the removable fine-mesh coffee filter, which is designed to keep grounds out of the pot, pop them into the canister, pour water over the top and watch the magic happen. When you're done, cleanup will be a breeze, as none of its elements have any hard to reach nooks or crannies and can simply be thrown into the dishwasher.

The Takeya remains our favorite cold brew coffee maker, even after multiple rounds of testing.

According to our tester, the only downside to this machine was that it only held a small capacity of liquid at a time, producing just 4 cups of ready-to-drink cold brew compared to the oodles of concentrate that could be made by its larger competitors.

At this low price, however, you're far more likely to spend more buying your drinks in a café over the span of a week than you would on the actual maker, which you can keep for years and brew more of at any time. So go ahead and snag this Reviewed-approved kitchen essential that any caffeine drinker needs in their life!
