Fast Growing Wildfire Forces Evacuations in Northern California

A new vegetation fire named the River Fire spread to 1,400 acres at a campground near Colfax, California, on Wednesday, August 4, forcing evacuations in Placer and Nevada County.

At least 2,400 people had evacuated their homes in Placer County, and another 4,200 people were under evacuation orders in Nevada County, according to local authorities.
