Farrell High product Butler intercepts 3 passes, returns one 100 yards for a TD, as Titans defeat CWR, 34-12

Sep. 19—CLEVELAND — Westminster freshman defensive back Brice Butler (Farrell High product) intercepted 3 passes, returning one of them 100 yards for a touchdown, in Westminster's 34-12 win over Case Western Reserve on Saturday night at DiSanto Field.

CWR (1-1, 2-1) led 6-0 at the end of the first quarter, but the Titans outscored the hosts 21-6 in the second frame to lead 21-12 at the break. The Titans (1-0, 1-1) then tacked on a pair of scores in the fourth quarter.

Westminster's Frank Antuono scored on runs of 3 and 5 yards in the second quarter and Cole Konieczka threw a 26-yard TD pass to Denny Dennison.

In the fourth frame, Butler picked off a pass and returned it 100 yards for a score and Chevy Dawson hauled in a 47-yard scoring strike from Konieczka.

Antonio Orsini had a 2-yard touchdown runs for Case Western Reserve and quarterback Drew Saxton threw an 11-yard TD pass to Lucas DeCaro.

Konieczka was 13-of-24 for 208 yards and two touchdowns for the Titans. Ryan Gomes (12-55) and Noah Petro (10-50) were the leading rushers. Jalen Washington caught 5 passes for 102 yards.

Saxton was 30-of-58 for 317 yards with one TD and five interceptions for CWR. Orsini rushed for 74 yards on 18 carries and DeCaro pulled in 8 passes for 112 yards.

Note — Butler tied a school-record with his three interceptions. He became the first Titan to achieve the feat since Don Augustine in 2000 vs. Bethany. Butler is also the first Titan to return an interception for 100 yards for a touchdown since Aaron Pierce did it in 2019 at Washington & Jefferson.
