LIZ LOZA: I'll play some over under with you. Are you taking Denzel Mims over Jerry Jeudy?
MATT HARMON: No.
LIZ LOZA: Are you taking him over Henry Ruggs?
MATT HARMON: Like we're talking for just this year?
LIZ LOZA: Yeah.
MATT HARMON: I-- I mean, the problem is, I just think this is going to be a truncated offense, and like, I'm kind of probably out on all of-- most all of these rookies.
LIZ LOZA: I just look at the volume. And I did fall in love with Mims's skill set. And I hear that argument. But are you really sure that Jamison Crowder is even going to stay on the field? I mean, like, I just don't see where else this is going to go. And I do think that Mims has a skill set, and he wins in contested situations. And if anything Sam Darnold, as a player, when he gets under pressure, starts to get real scattershot. And Mims is the kind of receiver that can bail a quarterback like that out.
MATT HARMON: Yeah, I do-- no, I mean, I-- like, don't get me wrong. I like the player, and the landing spot was a huge win for player and team, I think. Like, it's--
LIZ LOZA: Value-wise.
MATT HARMON: If-- yeah, I mean, for sure, because, like, I think Mims probably thought he was going to go in the back half of the first round because a lot of, like, media reports seem to be leaning that way. A lot of people really liked him as a late first round pick. So he's probably bummed that he fell. But he's going to get immediate opportunity.
I think if Darnold and Mims have time to, like, work together in the offseason, like, besides being six feet apart, like, I think that there there's a-- there's a good chance that-- there's a good chance that he has a really nice rookie season.
