Cyrus’s new track, Slide Away, is all about a break-up, with lyrics such as: “Once upon a time, it was made for us / Woke up one day, it had turned to dust.”
The Wrecking Ball star, 26, sings about it being “time to let it go”.
The singer, who met Hemsworth 10 years ago on the set of the film The Last Song, also says: “Move on, we’re not 17 / I’m not who I used to be / You said that everything changed / You’re right I’m grown now.”
The song also includes references to drugs and alcohol, with the line: “I want my house in the hills / Don’t want the whisky and pills.”
While the track has gone down a storm with Cyrus’s fans, there are some who have suggested they are feeling a little sorry for the actor after its debut.
“I like you Miley but I also like Liam and imo that breakup song has come way too soon,” one person posted on Twitter.
