FAMU's Isaiah Land, Xavier Smith headline team's dozen of All-SWAC football honorees

Florida A&M Rattlers wide receiver Xavier Smith (19) shows off his MVP trophy. The FAMU Rattlers defeated the BCU Wildcats 41-20 during the annual Florida Classic at Camping World Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022.

Florida A&M's football season may be over, but the postseason awards are beginning to come in.

The SWAC released its all-conference football selections on Tuesday which included a dozen of Rattler players.

Six of those players earned First Team honors and the other six made the Second Team.

Leading the first-team selection was receiver Xavier Smith, who led the SWAC in catches (87), receiving yards (1,021), and receiving touchdowns (11).

Former Florida State player, left tackle Jalen Goss also was named to the first team after helping quarterback Jeremy Moussa stay clean as the Rattlers had the third lowest sack total in the SWAC (21).

Representing the Dark Cloud Defense on the first team is defensive linemen Isaiah Land and Kamari Stephens, who combined for 17.5 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss throughout the season.

Land, a former Buck Buchanan winner, recently decided to forego his final year of eligibility to enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Specialists Chris Faddoul and Jose Romo-Martinez were honored as first teamers.

Faddoul led the SWAC in punting average (43) and 50-plus yard punts (12).

Martinez made the most field goal attempts in the conference this season, converting on 17 of 22 tries.
