The road from 90 players down to 53 is never an easy one for NFL teams. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020, the league changed its training camp roster rules so that teams would get more time to evaluate talent.

The Atlanta Falcons had a successful preseason debut on Friday, but the team must part with at least five players by Tuesday in order to get the roster down to 85 players. Then the following week, the Falcons will have to get that number down to 80, before final cuts on August 30.

While we aren’t expecting to see any notable players get released by the Tuesday deadline, the Falcons could look to cut more than the minimum of five players if they wish to sign someone released by another team.

Check out our latest 53-man roster projection and 90-man roster tracker as the team prepares for its second preseason game on August 22 against the New York Jets.
