The BET Awards are back in action.

The 2022 edition of the annual ceremony recognizing music, movies and more takes place Sunday in Los Angeles, with hip-hop mogul Diddy set to receive a lifetime achievement honor.

But Diddy is hardly the only big name who will be celebrated during the event at the Microsoft Theater, where rapper-singer Doja Cat leads the way with six nominations.

Here’s everything you need to know before Sunday’s show.

How do I watch?

The ceremony will air live on BET beginning at 8 p.m. EDT, with the network starting its red carpet show featuring celebrity arrivals at 6 p.m. EDT.

Sister networks including MTV, MTV2, VH1 and BET Her will also broadcast the main ceremony live.

Who is hosting?

Taraji P. Henson, who starred as Cookie Lyon on the Fox music industry drama “Empire,” will host the ceremony for a second consecutive year.

Henson, 51, is a six-time winner in the best actress category at the BET Awards, including two wins for “Empire” and another for the historical drama film “Hidden Figures” that told the story of three African-American mathematicians for NASA.

The emcee gig comes during a big week for Henson, who is a three-time Emmy nominee. Her latest film, the animated “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” hits theaters Friday.

Who is nominated?

Already a three-time BET Awards nominee at previous shows, Doja Cat will look to win her first trophy this year. She’s a finalist for best female R&B/pop artist, best female hip-hop artist, album of the year for “Planet Her,” the BET Her award, and video of the year and best collaboration for “Kiss Me More” with SZA.

She is joined in the album of the year category by Silk Sonic for “An Evening with Silk Sonic,” Kanye West for “Donda,” Drake for “Certified Lover Boy,” H.E.R. for “Back of My Mind,” Tyler, the Creator for “Call Me If You Get Lost” and Jazmine Sullivan for “Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe.”

The finalists for movie of the year include the horror film “Candyman,” the Will Smith-led tennis biopic “King Richard” about Venus and Serena Williams’ father, and the Looney Tunes basketball sequel “Space Jam: A New Legacy” starring LeBron James. Also nominated in the category are the Aretha Franklin biopic “Respect,” the Oscar-winning music documentary “Summer of Soul,” and the Netflix Western “The Harder They Fall.”

Who is performing?

Several of hip hop and R&B’s biggest names will take the stage for performances on Sunday, including Lil Wayne, Jack Harlow, Chlöe and Chance the Rapper.

Diddy, meanwhile, will take part in a medley that also features Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, Lil’ Kim, Nas, Faith Evans and more.
