Charity coped by essentially ignoring what they'd been through, instead obsessively cleaning to avoid facing the loss. This left Mack feeling like he had no-one to grieve with.

It took heart-to-heart moments with both Chas and Moira to finally get Charity to open up to Mack about losing their child.

"He needs someone because what's happened to you has also happened to him," Moira pointed out.

Later, the couple were able to have a frank conversation where Charity acknowledged that it might not be possible for them to have a biological child.

While Mack remained heartbroken over their loss, he accepted that their life might just be the two of them from now on.

"[Things] can go back to being fine again," Mack assured her.

Although Charity promised Mack she is willing to move forward, her true feelings of anxiety and uncertainty shined through as soon as she looked away from him.
