Eggheads is moving to Channel 5 after 18 years on BBC
Eggheads has found a home on a new channel after 18 years.
Host Jeremy Vine revealed the quiz show will now air on Channel 5, leaving BBC Two.
Speaking on The Jeremy Vine Show, he told Joanna Lumley: "This is my big announcement. I don't have many of these I tell you.
"The programme which I've presented for more than 10 years, Eggheads, one of the greatest quizzes in the history of British TV, is moving to Channel 5 later this year."
Strictly Come Dancing star Jeremy will continue to front the show.
Channel 5 commissioning editor Daniel Pearl said: "I'm delighted that Eggheads, one of the UK's most loved quiz shows, has found a brand new home on Channel 5.
"This is yet another step in the transformation of Channel 5 as it grows its audience rapidly."
Eggheads first started in 2003 with Dermot Murnaghan in the presenting seat before Jeremy took over in 2008.
The show features a team of five contestants taking on five top quizzers known as the Eggheads.
It's thought the series will keep the current roster of eggheads when it moves channels.
Since the show started, the panel has included Who Wants to Be a Millionaire winner Judith Keppel, Mastermind winner Chris Hughes and Brain of Britain quiz question setter Kevin Ashman.
Judith added: "I'm thrilled to bits, I can't tell you how lovely it will be to have something to do at last!"
A BBC spokesperson added: "We sometimes have to make difficult decisions in order to grow new shows and we would like to thank the Eggheads and host Jeremy Vine for their time on the BBC and wish them well with their next chapter."
