Edgewood mom wins $1,000 grand prize in Freedom Federal Credit Union's summer photo contest

Oct. 4—An Edgewood mother of two has won the grand prize in Freedom Federal Credit Union's third-annual summer photo contest with her cute baby pic entry.

Brooke Wagoner, an Edgewood wife and mother of two, won the grand prize of $1,000 in the #SummerofFreedomFCU photo contest with a photo featuring her baby boy, Davie, at the pool donning Freedom sunglasses.

The six-week social media contest called for residents in Harford and Baltimore counties to post photos of their summer adventures while showcasing Freedom Federal Credit Union's branded blue and yellow sunglasses. The free sunglasses were available throughout the summer at the credit union's branches.

Each week, the public was invited to vote for their favorite entry on Freedom's Facebook page. After winning an Amazon gift card in the weekly contest, Wagoner's entry was featured as a finalist during the competition's 24-hour, grand-prize voting period, also held on Freedom's Facebook page.

Wagoner's winning photo, titled "Apparently, I'm Messy," won with just an 89-vote margin.

In addition to thanking her family, Wagoner thanked the entire pool league at Wargo's Restaurant & Tavern in Forest Hill for their support in getting votes.

"It was so stressful, but fun," she said. "I definitely want to do it again next year. I want to get more creative with my entries, really stage them and plan them out."

Wagoner plans to open up a savings certificate for Davie and use the rest of the prize money towards a family vacation in the Outer Banks with her husband, Dave Sr., daughter Danni and baby Davie.

The #SummerofFreedomFCU contest received hundreds of contest submissions, with entrants featuring locations in Harford and Baltimore counties and as far as Paris, France and Rome, Italy, according to a Freedom news release.

Next up is Freedom Federal Credit Union's fifth-annual, volunteerism-themed photo contest for the holidays, the #FreedomToHelpChallenge. The social challenge begins Nov. 4th and features a $1,000 charitable award to a local non-profit organization.
