Edgewood man dies in collision over the weekend; two others injured

Oct. 18—An Edgewood man died in a multi-vehicle collision Saturday that also left a woman and a young boy injured, Maryland State Police said.

John Preston, 27, was declared dead at the scene after a gold Toyota Corolla in which he was a passenger was struck by a black Chevrolet Silverado shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

The Corolla was traveling southbound on Edgewood Road and traveled through the intersection of Philadelphia Road, according to a news release from the Maryland State Police.

The Silverado was traveling eastbound on Philadelphia Road and struck the Corolla on its passenger side. Both vehicles traveled off the southeast corner of the intersection into a parking lot, striking two unattended vehicles at Trident Automotive at 2201 Philadelphia Road.

The driver of the Silverado, identified as Forrest Plowman, 56, of Joppa, was uninjured. The driver of the Toyota Corolla, Danielle Pollins, 30, was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and the rear right seat passenger, a 6-year-old boy, was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital Pediatrics.

There was no indication at this time that drugs or alcohol were involved, police said.

Elena, Russo, spokesperson for the Maryland State Police, said the collision is still under investigation and there are no further details as of Monday morning.
