The Edge: A Company of Fine Artists presents its Fall 2021 “Showcase of Artists” at 7:15 p.m. nightly Dec. 19-20 at the Boston Avenue Playhouse, 4228 Boston Ave., Lubbock.
"Witnessing artists grow in their craft is the reason I teach,” said K. Douglas McKennon, instructor at The Edge, in a news release. “And seeing the realization that happens with new artists and seasoned as well when they make a new discovery is thrilling.”
Students from McKennon's acting and directing classes will present a collection of scenes and monologues from their work this semester. Three student directors will each present two Shakespeare scenes featuring actors from the classes. Acting students will also present a selection of monologues and songs from classic and contemporary shows.
Students presenting work are Sean Allen Jones, Shan Wong, Huey Lee, George Anthony, Jennifer Renae Allen, Janine Young, Mary Ann Lawson, C. David Morrow, Stephanie Johnson and Nick Muniz.
"The Edge is fully committed to the growth of new and seasoned artists to increase the quality of art in Lubbock,” McKennon said.
Future classes will include Directing: More than Blocking; Mask: a Master class; Character Development; Auditioning; Beginning Acting; Voice for the Actor(Berry Method); and An Actor Moves.
There will be one 10-minute intermission. General seating tickets are $7 and are available at edge_theatre_lubbock.eventbrite.com. Additional donations may be made at the door.
In the commitment of The Edge theatre company to being green, programs for the evening will be virtual, accessible by Q-code at the door.
