Eastern Connecticut softball advances to D-III super regionals

May 17—The Eastern Connecticut State softball team is headed to the NCAA Division III tournament super regionals.

Morgan Bolduk of Vernon and Alexis Michon combined on a two-hitter Monday as the top-seeded Warriors blanked No. 2 and host Kean College 8-0 in six innings in the championship game of the Union, New Jersey regional.

Eastern (41-5), ranked No. 3 nationally, will host Randolph-Macon (39-3) in the best-of-three super regional with Game 1 scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m. Game 2 is set for Saturday at noon with a decisive third game, if necessary, to follow.

Carly Stoker's two-run homer sparked a four-run first inning Monday and the Warriors never looked back.

Bolduk worked three innings and allowed one hit while striking out three before Michon came on to finish.

Michon was named the regional's Most Outstanding Player. Bolduk joined the sophomore on the all-tournament team. Bolduk was 1-1 with a 2.71 ERA in three appearances.
