EastEnders spoilers follow.

Linda Carter is set to invest in a new business venture on EastEnders following her rejection of Janine Butcher's bribe.

Recent scenes saw Janine offer Linda £50,000 to leave Walford, and while she seriously considered the bribe, she ended up turning the knife back on Janine – telling her she was going nowhere and keeping the money for herself.

In new scenes set to air next week, Denise Fox reveals to Lola Pearce and Jada Lennox that she plans to sell the salon to Nathan, who has showed interest. Kim is left disappointed by her reasons for selling it, while Sam Mitchell gloats over the decision.

However, Linda overhears Kim and Denise discussing the need for an investor while contemplating having a drink, and at Ruby's she approaches them, offering an investment.

The two mull over the decision and Denise agrees to Linda's proposal, and are shocked to see that she is offering £50,000 by the end of the day.

Jack is suspicious about Linda's investment, but after a chat everyone is left satisfied and Linda signs the contract, making her a co-owner. Jack and Denise also relay the news to Sam.

Linda celebrates the investment with her family and Janine, though Nancy receives a call, learning that the estate agents never received the money.

Speaking about Linda's decision, star Kellie Bright explained: "She happens to be in the vicinity of Kim and Denise talking about needing an investor. She puts herself forward, not necessarily because she knows anything about hair salons – everyone would have donut hair!

"But she does know about business, she'll be more admin, she can do VAT, knows about business rates... It's very spontaneous, almost like Janine's money is burning a hole in her pocket and she has to do something with it.

"It's better than letting it sit there. It seems fairly sensible and entrepreneurial of her."

Kellie added that whether or not they trust her, Denise and Kim are "desperate", revealing: "It's better than having no investor at all and losing the salon. So they take her up on the offer.

"When Linda makes the offer she is very sober and clear, not asking to change anything or steamroller in there, work there, just a cash injection. At that time, Linda has been sober for a couple of weeks. She's going to her meetings.

"One reason she wants to do something with the money is she knows she needs to keep busy, a focus to stop being tempted with drinking. Which is positive in terms of how her recovery is going at this point."

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1 on BBC One.
