East Cobber magazine sales rep takes over as owner-publisher

Jun. 25—EAST COBBER magazine has a new owner and publisher.

Laren Brown, a sales representative with the magazine for nearly a decade, was announced as the magazine's new owner and publisher Friday.

The magazine's founder and current publisher, Cynthia Rozzo, made the announcement a month after announcing she would step down after 29 years.

Brown said in a message posted to the magazine's website that she hoped to take it to new heights.

"I want to enhance what is already here," Brown said. "The EAST COBBER will continue to promote the exceptional people and events that make East Cobb such a great place to live and uphold the value the magazine has built over the years."

Rozzo founded the magazine in 1993. Brown, 46, plans to bring back the EAST COBBER parade and festival, an annual event that has not happened since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

At its peak, the magazine's circulation reached 40,000. Initially publishing 11 times a year, the EAST COBBER reduced publication to six times a year in 2021. On her way out, Rozzo said that the magazine plans to return to its original publishing schedule in 2023.
