Eagles announce that RB Darren Sproles is returning for 14th NFL season
The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Friday that they have agreed to a one-year deal with running back Darren Sproles, who will return to the team for his 14th NFL season.
Sproles has played in the NFL since his 2005 rookie year with the San Diego Chargers. He missed his second season with a broken ankle but has been one of the league’s most productive backs since over the 13-season course of his career.
The 36-year-old played the last five seasons in Philadelphia.

"My heart is in Philly,” Sproles said in a statement from the team. “That's where I want to end my career. That team, the city is like a family."
Sproles has been limited in recent years
Sproles played in just six games last season after a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1 sidelined him for 10 weeks. He tallied 280 total yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.
Injury limited his 2017 production as well, as Sproles played in just three games. His most recent season with regular production was 2016 when he tallied 438 rushing yards, 427 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
He’ll join a crowded backfield that features Jordan Howard, second-round rookie Miles Sanders and Corey Clement.
