Dzuricsko clarifies PTFCA recognition; Hickory indoor track & field results

Jan. 18—Recent inductee Barb Dzuricsko submitted a clarification regarding local athletes receiving Pennsylvania Track & Field Coaches Association recognition.

She is the 3rd from Hickory High. She will be enshrined at this spring's PIAA Track & Field Championships, May 28, at Shippensburg University.

Former Hickory pole-vaulter Andrew Rademacher was inducted in 2010, followed by former Hickory jumper Karen Krichko (2013).

Mrs. Dzuricsko — an athlete, coach, administrator — will be Hickory's 3rd honoree in the "Contributor" category, she noted.

— Relating to Hickory High athletes, several fared well during recent events at Slippery Rock and Youngstown State universities.

At Slippery Rock on Jan. 14, Hickory was led by the 1st-place finish of Christie Boren (high jump, 5-2).

Other placewinners included Jillian White, 400-meter dash (1:06.84) and Chloe Kovac, shot put (29-9) ended as runners-up, as did the girls' 4x200-meter relay quartet (Avery Thompson, Cecelia Perman, Isabella Delgros, Bella Multari, 2:09.89).

Paige Griffith, high jump (5-0) placed 3rd. Finishing 4th were Perman, 55-meter dash (8.02), Jessica Miklos, shot put (29-0), and the boys' 4x200-meter relay (Luke Ference, Vince Wolf, Sean Kennedy, Nick Trontel, 1:57.18).

Finishing in 5th place were: Isabella Gingras, 400-meter dash (1:10.18), and the girls' 4x-200-meter relay foursome (Grace Sieg, Taylor Sieg, Slade Pfadt, and Danika Davis, 2:26.31). Standing 6th were Sophia Emmorey, 1600-meter run (6:37.66) and Deesha Shukla, 55-meter hurdles (13.02).

Ending in an 8th-place deadlock were pole-vaulters Anna Rodenbaugh, Emma White, Amanda Miklos and Mandy Tran, 5-0). Also in 8th place was shot-putter Leah Garm (25-4 1/4) and 400-meter dash sprinter Wolf (1:02.31).

At YSU on Jan. 15, Luca Bertolasio own the long jump (21-5 3/4), and the boys' 4x200-meter relay also finished 1st (1:39.08). Also, Boren placed as runner-up in the high jump (5-2).

Finishing 5th were Brady Mellott, 60-meter hurdles (8.87) and high-jumper Griffith (4-10). Standing 6th was Thomas Hunyadi, 1600-meter run (4:36.08); standing 7th was Bertolasio, 60-meter dash (7.22), and ending 8th were Keenan Scullin, 60-meter dash (7.23), Boren, 400-meter dash (1:03.05), and the girls' 4x-800-meter relay quartet (12:15.79).
