DWU football Gameday: Tigers travel to Midland

Sep. 17—The 2021 Dakota Wesleyan University football team is looking to get its second win of the season.

Here's what to know ahead of Saturday's matchup.

When: 1 p.m. Saturday

Where: Fremont, Nebraska.

Coaches: DWU's Ross Cimpl (10th season); Midland's Jeff Jamrog (6th season)

All-time series: 34th meeting all-time. DWU trails in the series, 15-19 and has lost the last three meetings in the series by an average of 22 points. The last time DWU beat Midland was 2017 on Sept. 30 at home, by a score of 55-21.

Last meeting: Midland 50, Dakota Wesleyan 14 on Oct. 17, 2020 at Joe Quintal Field.

Notes about the Tigers: Dakota Wesleyan is coming off a 20-3 win against Mount Marty on Saturday, Sept. 4. The Tigers had 440 total offensive yards in their last outing, 239 passing and 201 yards rushing. DWU has also held their opponents to just nine points in the first eight quarters of the season and hasn't allowed over 100 yards on the ground.

Notes about the Warriors: Midland is 1-2 so far this season and is coming off an overtime loss to No. 2 Northwestern 35-29. Midland's one win over Dordt was decided by one point and their other loss this season to Sterling College was decided by two points. Midland averages 271 yards passing and 70 yards rushing.

Next: DWU hosts Hastings in Mitchell at 1 p.m. on Sept. 25, while Midland travels to University of Jamestown on Sept. 25.
