Dustin Johnson to serve as College GameDay guest picker for BYU at Coastal Carolina

Reigning Masters champion Dustin Johnson will serve as guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay as it broadcasts from Conway, South Carolina, on Saturday.
A Coastal Carolina alumnus, Johnson will join show hosts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso in picking the winners of the week’s top college football games including No. 13 BYU at No. 18 Coastal Carolina. No word if Johnson will join the team virtually or in person at his alma mater.
Coastal Carolina announced Thursday it canceled its game against No. 25 Liberty previously scheduled for Saturday due to COVID-19 protocols and precautions within Liberty’s program. The school also announced Thursday it would host BYU at Brooks Stadium instead.
Johnson’s expected appearance as guest picker is not the first time golf and ESPN’s established college football pre-game show joined forces this season.

While College GameDay has looked different this season due to the absence of fans on location due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the program made a historic decision to broadcast from Augusta National during the third round of the Masters Tournament with Jack Nicklaus serving as guest picker virtually. Johnson went on to win the tournament, winning his second major title and first green jacket by five shots.
Justin Thomas was chosen as College GameDay’s guest picker last season for the 2019 matchup between Alabama and LSU.
Johnson, who tested positive for COVID-19 in October and withdrew from two PGA Tour events, was expected to compete in this week’s Mayakoba Golf Classic in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, but withdrew last week, citing the need to rest.
College GameDay airs Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN. Johnson’s appearance as guest picker toward the end of the program.
BYU and Coastal Carolina, both undefeated this season, kick off at 5:30 p.m ET.
