Durham police search for missing UNH student Vincenzo Lirosi — helicopter and dogs deployed

DURHAM — Police were searching wooded areas in town Saturday, hoping to locate a University of New Hampshire student who was reported missing.

Vincenzo Lirosi, 22, of 9 Woodman Road, was drinking with friends Friday night before going missing, according to police.

Police said he does not have a phone or identification with him.

Lirosi is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair, police said. He was last seen wearing a gray Patriots hooded sweatshirt, a blue long-sleeve shirt and khaki pants.

"We are searching locations where we were told he might have gone," Durham Police Chief Rene Kelley said. "We have Fish and Game officers out and state police with their canine units. We just put a helicopter out."

Police said it is believed Lirosi took a path through a wooded area near Woodman Road, as a shortcut to his residence. Lirosi was last seen at approximately 1-1:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was reported missing at 3 a.m.

Police dogs were seen searching Saturday in the area of Beards Creek, Kelley confirmed.

Police ask anyone who sees Lirosi, or knows of his whereabouts, to call 911 or the Durham Police Department at 603-868-2324.
