It’s no surprise: All signs were pointing to a “Dune” sequel by the time Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel opened in U.S. theaters (then Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff all but confirmed a follow-up movie on October 21, 2021, the day before the film’s opening). On October 26 of that year came official confirmation from Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. that  “Dune: Part Two” was officially a go.

Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem all reprised their roles from their first film, with some new (and Oscar-nominated) talents like Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken joining the cast.

After a long wait (including a delayed release date caused by the 2023 Screen Actors Guild strike), the sequel opened to largely positive reviews. The early success has led many to believe that Villeneuve will get a shot at completing his trilogy with a third movie based on the novel “Dune Messiah.”

“Dune: Part Two” is now playing in theaters everywhere. Keep scrolling to see all the major details about the critically acclaimed sequel.
