Downward trend in regional COVID-19 cases continues

May 15—The downward trend for positive COVID-19 cases in Northeast Pennsylvania continued Saturday, according to figures released by the state.

The seven-county region saw an additional 127 cases and two deaths.

Long-term COVID-19 case and death totals have declined for the last three weeks as the number of Pennsylvanians vaccinated grows.

Statewide, the Department of Health reported an additional 2,210 cases and 25 deaths.

As of Saturday, 54% of all Pennsylvanians have had at least one dose of the vaccine, and 47.8% of state residents age 18 and older are fully vaccinated.

By county:

Lackawanna added 28 cases for 18,173 total, including 2,807 probable. Two new deaths raised the total to 467.

Luzerne added 44 cases for 31,286 total, including 2,510 probable, and remained at 802 deaths.

Monroe added 30 cases for 14,491 total, including 441 probable, and remained at 308 deaths.

Pike added seven cases for 3,914 total, including 405 probable, and remained at 54 deaths.

Susquehanna added three cases for 2,567 total, including 321 probable, and remained at 62 deaths.

Wayne added 11 cases for 4,024 total, including 416 probable, and remained at 80 deaths.

Wyoming added four cases for 1,895 total, including 331 probable, and remained at 50 deaths.
